A cool monochrome Swedish home

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">P and I had very different ideas of what we were looking for when we bought <a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/search?q=my+home+captured" target="_blank">our house</a> but after a broad search we moved 50 metres! My parents did the same when we were small. It just goes to show what you are looking for is often right under your nose! Do you find this to be true? Swedish pair Lina and Andreas Kanstrup were planning a new build when a house came on the market 100 metres away. They were sceptical but the moment they walked in the door they <i>knew</i> it was right and all building plans went out the window. They renovated their new house from scratch learning lessons on the way and relying on gut instinct. A lovely minimalist apartment in Berlin

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><span class="Apple-style-span">Last Autumn I was lucky enough to visit Berlin for the first time (it's actually only 6 hours drive from Malmö), what a fantastic, vibrant city! If you haven't been I can warmly recommend it. This beautiful apartment is 250 metres from Winterfeldplatz with it's Saturday market and numerous cafes and shops. So simple yet so lovely. I spotted the mint stool (in the corner of the bedroom) in IKEA too the other day, it also comes in a salmon pink (tempted!). I also spy a black and white <a href="http://usstore.marimekko.com/home-decor/pienet-kivet-22-pillow-sham.asp" target="_blank">Marimekko cushion</a> in the sitting room.   <br /><br />I was searching through the <a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/search/label/Black%20and%20white%20home" target="_blank">black and white</a> label in the archive for other beautiful homes of this genre for you and got lost there for about half an hour! An artist's home in black, white and concrete

To top of the week I'd love to share this home with you designed by Copenhagen based firm <a href="http://www.normcph.com/index.php" target="_blank">Norm Architects</a>. The house is situated directly behind<a href="http://www.louisiana.dk/dk/Service+Menu+Right/English" target="_blank"> Louisiana Museum of Modern Art</a> in Humlebaek (a must-see in Copenhagen!). The architectural work was commissioned by a local artist who was looking to turn the space into a modern home with more light so it could function both as a home and studio. A stunning Copenhagen home with a shiny touch

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Today I'm loving this beautiful home in the heart of Copenhagen belonging to Line Dahy Ernst and Thomas Hoedholts (who unsurprisingly work in the fashion and design industry). The exposed beams, rough plastered walls, and monochrome colour palette. The fab designer pieces such as the <a href="http://www.designcollectors.com/EN/product/1643/thonet-209/" target="_blank">Thonet 209 chairs</a> and <a href="http://www.designcollectors.com/EN/product/1358/vitra-hang-it-all/" target="_blank">Vitra Hang it all </a>. The wall lights are such a practical way of getting light to a space where you need to move the light around such as in my sitting room. As you know the <a href="http://www.nest.co.uk/product/flos-265-wall-lamp" target="_blank">Flos 265 </a>has been a favourite of mine since forever. Will this be the year I finally get one?!<br /><br />Got to love the <a href="http://www.designcollectors.com/EN/product/1047/vitra-eames-plastic-armchair-rar/" target="_blank">Eames RAR</a> too - I think this and the <a href="http://www.designcollectors.com/EN/product/1117/vitra-eames-plastic-armchair-daw/" target="_blank">DAW </a>look best in black (you can always get 15% off these with code MYSCAN :).<br /><br />After some more monochrome inspiration? What about this <a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/2013/10/a-monochrome-apartment-with-touch-of.html" target="_blank">Stockholm home</a> with a mid-century touch and this <a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/2013/08/a-relaxed-monochrome-apartment-in-malmo.html" target="_blank">Malmö home</a> - so fab in their own black and white way.<br /><br />I received an e-mail yesterday from the clothes designer behind the dress I showed in my '<a href="http://www.myscandinavianhome.blogspot.se/2013/12/all-that-glitters.html" target="_blank">all that glitters</a>' new year's eve piece. <a href="http://www.jmgenerals.com/" target="_blank">Jeffrey Monteiro</a> designed the fab piece in 2011 for <a href="http://www.billblass.com/" target="_blank">Bill Blass</a>.
